An individual who spiked candy with sleeping medication and gave them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males both nine and ten years old.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.

Ruben was remanded in custody before a further hearing on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.

She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.

The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had played this game with the young males "for many years", and youngsters had previously become sick the next day.

She stated the man had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in summer 2025.

The legal representative added: "In the summer" his stepson had concerns about the activities, with valid cause.

"They chose" to investigate in the individual's items."

The prosecutor stated items including infant oil, ointment and injection devices were found, and his family member contacted the police about his suspicions.

She said Ruben proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.

"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that stage," she stated further.

The oversight body, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining the police response of the events.

The legal representative stated the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member called the authorities once more.

She said the man then engaged in the "candy game" in a area of five minors.
